What is CASHFLOW 101?
It's a game reflecting life for most people. You play the game every day, month and year of your life. Do you agree? Well, you probably aren't sure yet. What is a definition of being "broke"? How about this: Too much month left at the end of the money!
That's exactly what your character starts doing in this game and what most of us do every month. We spend a whole month working hard for a boss to barely manage to survive for the first or maybe to the second week in every month. Doesn't happen to you? When last did you have money left after the second week of the month? That's right! We are a lab rat on a treadmill going round and round. We work to pay bills and then, well, then we die. Drastic? Maybe, but consider that 49% of South Africa's households live on R29 a day - courtesy of Business Report 2006. Only 5% of South Africans will be able to retire & enjoy their retirement years. The other 95% will still be working, broke or relying on grants. Do you want to be one of them?
Ask yourself when last you worked out how many pay cheques you have left of your working life! If we all started working at the age of 20 and retire at the age of 65, that leaves us with 540 salary months. If you plan to live until you turn 75 you need to be putting away 20% of your salary every month without exception just to continue your lifestyle for 10 years of retirement! Are you doing that?
CASHFLOW 101 and Cashflow 202 are games that teach you how to escape the Rat Race. It involves each of the three asset classes: stocks, property and business. One learns how to keep a budget and run your personal income statement and balance sheet while making deals and negotiating partnerships. The Cashflow board game actually shows you that the Rat Race is mentally ingrained by schools, companies, banks and the government. How do you beat the Rat Race?
